Oh luck, you crazy jerk!
So today I decided to take out this bike I've found about a year ago. I mean look at this thing, why WASN'T I tearing up the suburbs with this guy?! Today I went out, got some great ankle socks, got a bike pump and popped on my best headband and shorts.
About less than a block away, the bike tire's tube popped OUT of the tire and wrapped around the spokes. It's really sad that the majority of sweating I did today was walking the bike back home in shame.

AND IF YOU LIVED IN SHADOWS BEFORE...
I know it's electro crunk week on the blog but I've had this song stuck in my head when I randomly played it while I was DJing last night. This is one of my favorite tracks from Digitalism (Myspace) and it makes me want to do the little dance that Jermaine from Flight Of The Conchords does in the opening of their show. (The one with the shoulders!!!) Get you some good German electro rock!
Digitalism - I Want I Want
BEATING THE BEAT UP.
This is hands down one of my favorite hip hop electro remixes ever.
MEMPHIS BLEEK - Alright (RATATAT remix)

THUNDERHEIST.
I've been loving all these sassy ass electro crunk songs coming out as of late. Even better are all these great remixes of all of them. Montreal's Thunderheist (great name by the way!) get the funky electro remix action courtesy of fellow Canadian Wax Romeo.

G-UNIT.
Yup.
I was one of the few nerds lucky enough to get their iPhone 3G on day one. (And it only took me an hour to get it activated in store! So I was up and running playing stupid YouTube clips in the store and pissing off other customers at 9:30am EST!)
I'm still getting used to the keyboard (and wondering how the hell I am ever going to text with this thing when I am drunk!) and I'll be posting a review of the experience so far in about a week. I'm still in the process of testing out all the apps (mostly the free ones) and seeing how they affect my life. I've had big plans of how the iPhone can change my life so I'm curious to see how having an iPhone for a week and using it's functionality to the fullest will be come 7 days of usage.

3G.
Here's a short little guide for all you jerks getting the new iPhone 3G!
Here's a clip that AT&T put together for new customers coming their way for the iPhone. Check it out so you know what to bring this Friday!
Too lazy to watch the video? Here's a quick text post on TUAW.com with the same info.
Here's Apple's Guided Tour for those who just want an update of what they are getting with the new iPhone.
And here's a website guide that you can instantly bookmark on your iPhone just in case you need a guide that you can access any time. (And the website is formatted like the iPhone UI!)

BILLION DOLLA.
Have you ever been hit in the head with an object out of nowhere? Remember how much it sucked? Well now imagine if it was awesome and that the object was these two remixes by the UK's Billion Dollar DJs. I've never instantly fallen in love with a pair of remixes like this before. The MIA one especially reminds me of all the best bits of the Streets Of Rage soundtracks.

CSS x THE BREEDERS?
Looking at their Myspace update, seeing them update their player with a song called "Cannonball," I didn't think CSS would've actually covered the 90s classic (remember how awesome it made this skit from MTV's "The State?!"), but it seems CSS did!
Check out this preview from the B-side of the UK only single for their track Donkey.

KENTARO.
Japan's DJ Kentaro is so good that I'd even go as far to say that he's "one of the illest DJs I've seen" (on Youtube). I think I am going for a hip hop flavor this week and between some good rap battle videos I'll be posting later this week and Mr. Kentaro, it'll be a good week for your Pumas.
For now, check out Kentaro beat juggling some electrohouse. I mean, when it comes to hip hop, the dude has crazy skill, but I've never seen anyone take the hip hop DJ approach to electrohouse. Crazy!
SIMPLY THE BEST.
This is probably hands down one of my favorite remixes EVER.
Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me (1999)
Comes from the UK's Grum. He has nice shoes and does some killer remixes. Here's all the proof you need:
Again, it's really one of my favorite remixes ever.
RAP BATTLES.
This one is incredible.
(I promise to post a real one tomorrow. Since I do love great battles.)

71 YEARS OF GENIUS.
No one could ever fill your shoes.
Herald News article.
BLACK KIDS WEEK: Lykke Li remix
Every so often, I am going to feature a different musician and some work they've done. Last week was sort of Justice week. This week, I am going to be talking a lot about The Black Kids.
Just who are they? Well, you could always Google them, in the mean time, check out this great remix:
Lykke Li is one of those extremely cute and talented chicks you meet in school but feel intimidated by. Not so much because you think she's more attractive than you but because she has cool parents, lived in tons of cool countries and can sing her ass off. And she's younger than you.
Check out her great vocals on this Black Kids remix.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
THE END OF THE WORLD
Comedian Patton Oswalt has a great part in his stand up where he talks about wanting to die "in the mother fucking apocalypse." I sometimes cannot agree more. Recently Chile experienced some awesome natural disasters and I hope that when I die, it's when the world ends and it looks about 100 times more awesome than these photos.

GUYVER
MGMT - Electric Feel
What I like about MGMT is that they seem to be reviving a genre music I'd normally not give a shit about. But there's something extremely fun about it. I guess it helps that this Justice remix was one of the first things I've heard from them.
MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice remix)
JUSTICE - Sure You Will
This one came out of nowhere. A track for 2003 featured off of a French electro/pop compilation album. This is a great surprise from the past and yet, still a great track for summer drives!

DVNO at a roller disco.
If you don't know who DVNO from Scenario Rock is, check out the track he did with Justice:
Here's a great remix of one a Scenario Rock track that reminds me of a super fun roller disco. Not one from the past, but one that might be happening right now. In the year 2000.

I heard of Blu, the wall painting animator a while ago. I saw this video and was completely floored by the effort and the creativity.

THE TING TINGS: Streaming the new album!
MTV and VH1 are now streaming their new album! Check it out now before you push old women out the way at the record shop to get it when it drops next week!
LADIES AND GENTS: The Ghost Frequency
It's very rare that a band comes out of nowhere and kicks my ass. It's a very welcome sensation and The Ghost Frequency (Myspace) will do it with a smile and then invite you over to watch a zombie movie. Speaking of which, give the fellows an add on Myspace. They make the general band posts and every so often they even post a favorite monster movie clip. Oh, and they also make music fusing a great mix of dance rock elements, synths and flesh eating.
The Ghost Frequency - Nightmare
The Ghost Frequency - Money On The Fire (demo)
FAVES: Enon
Enon (Myspace) has to be one of my favorite bands ever. They have that sort of fun indie rock attitude that would make you want to beg them to play all your house parties. Also, I've never been more infatuated with just a woman's voice before but then I heard Toko Yasuda. Can you marry someone's voice? I wonder. (Their male singer John Schmersal is also very awesome!)
Enon - Daughter In The House Of Fools
Enon - Utz
Enon - Knock That Door
Enon - Tilt You Up
Enon - Disposable Parts
Enon - Mirror On You
Johnny Lee does it again.
The man is a brainiac. The concept of automatic projector calibration may not immediately seem like that profound of an idea, but keep tuned to the video. It has some mindblowing applications.

Ladies And Gents: teenagersintokyo
Call me a sucker for a good old Australian girl dance rock band. Swing by their Myspace, buy their ep, look at their cute pictures and just keep dancing.
teenagersintokyo - Ended It Tonight
NATHANIEL: Greatest kid ever.
I swear, this kid needs to be in The Jabbawockeez.
MORE TECH GENIUS: The Adobe Light Field Camera
Adobe (the guys you steal Photoshop from) are now venturing into something you can't download. Their multilense camera enables users to have "the sharphest shooting camera ever." The multiple lenses focus on EVERYTHING all at once allowing the user to adjust their focus in post production, rather than prior to their shot. More here.
Mind = blown.

Johnny Lee is a (Wii) genius!
Johnny Lee (website) is a young tech student with some brilliant ideas. When he's not making giant paint balloon slingshots or low cost brain-computer interaction software, he's playing with his Wii. Johnny reversed the intended purpose of the Wiimote to figure out how to make a low cost head tracking VR display for less money than that new t-shirt from Urban Outfitters.
And while Johnny's Tony Stark genius may impress young fellows like you and I, he was asked to show off some of his new hacks and ideas at TED 2008 Conference (what's TED you ask?) Watch as Johnny blows the minds of the attendees of this year's conference (most of whom are probably twice his age.)
God bless people who use their brains for good. Let's just hope Johnny never moves over to the side of evil!
I <3 Mac OS

Imagine Brad Pitt played Alexander The Great
Tadanobu Asano is Japan's answer to actors like Brad Pitt. Unlike the male half of Brangelina, Asano takes on all sorts of roles from being cast in odd movies to major productions like MONGOL. Asano and award winning Russian Director Sergei Bodrov take on the story of Genghis Khan to illustrate his life not that of a war crazy general, but an inspiring and influential leader. As one of the greatest leaders of all time, it's set to be a pretty epic tale focused more on his life and the events that shaped him into the great leader he became.
SAMPLES: Justice + Mr. Oizo + Daft Punk
After my post about the video for Stress by Justice, I did a little more browsing on Youtube for any other great videos for Justice. Me being the fiend for finding samples, I stumbled across some great ones.
Goblin - Tenebre
The Brothers Johnson - You Make Me Wanna Wiggle
This is one I came across on Youtube and it's great. I absolutely love funk songs that sound like this. This reminds me of another amazing funk sampled in an french electro track...
Mr. Oizo - Patrick122
Gary's Gang - Do It At The Disco
And of course, there's this classic Daft Punk sample video

Here are some more Stress related treats:

Fucked Up - Stress (Heavy Metal Cover)

Hey, I remember: Millencolin
As far as rock music goes, most of my favorite stuff comes from Sweden. And when I think about it, among the giant list of bands from the land of Swedes, Millencolin (Myspace) was the first.
Millencolin was one of my first tastes of fun loving punk rock music. Back in the day when Minidisc players were as cool and chic as the first week when iPhones came out (before everyone got one!). Millencolin hits all bases for your general punk rock anthems: friends, family, love, having fun, growing up and buying awesome mopeds. Unlike Piebald, I'm glad one of my old favorite bands are still kicking it.
Millencolin - No Cigar
Millencolin - Penguins and Polarbears
Millencolin - Man or Mouse
Millencolin - Kemp
Ladies and Gents: The Young Punx
Dancey electro house is an odd beast. For a genre meant to make you want to get up, get down and have fun, it has run itself into a bit of a problem. Once one too many producers figured out just how easy it was to copy those simple, yet infectious grooves, the genre became stale. Soon all the funky basslines, guitar riffs, vocal samples and synth chord progressions became commonplace and it became hard to give a shit about new house tracks.
While The Young Punx (Myspace) aren't reinventing the genre or revolutionizing it, they are bringing the cheeky fun of dance music back to the floor. They are keeping their kick drums heavy, their guitar riffs funky, making sure the bass is going to shake plenty of hips and pitch shifting their vocal samples up a few octaves. It also helps that The Young Punx get most of their tracks remixed by some great producers giving their tracks and even stronger boost in the fun department.
Even people who write in "magazines" love these guys. Look at some words they wrote: "Future superstars" - Galaxy FM
"Essential" - DJ Mag
The Young Punx - Dance With Someone Else (Phunk Investigation remix)
The Young Punx - Fire (Phonat Mix) Web Promo Version
You can also get a tons of free MP3s from the fellas at their website.
I CALLED IT: The Ting Tings
While I didn't go out of my way to say these guys would be the next big thing, I knew The Ting Tings (Myspace) would get big at some point after I posted about a while ago. Now you can see them in the new iPod ad and during this week, they are also a part of iTunes USA's single of the week!

LADIES AND GENTS: VHS or BETA
Call me a jerk but who knew Kentucky could rock like this? VHS or BETA (Myspace) mixes a bit of rock, new wave flavor and a hint of that Kentucky accent into one super fun electro rock package. Even if that's not enough for you to be impressed, these gentlemen have been remixed by Midnight Juggernauts, Tommie Sunshine, LA Riots, Cut Copy and one of my personal favorites: Surkin. They've even done shows with Kool Keith, Duran Duran, The Hives, Stereo Total and Fatboy Slim!
Give the boys a listen. You'll feel as excited as the picture above! Maybe even more so!
VHS or BETA - Burn It All Down

ANDROSS EVERYWHERE: Dammit, China!
CHAPTER 2
Andross finally makes it to China and the self deprecation begins. Close friends would tell you that Andross' love for travel is only rivaled by his extremely lack of what most would consider a normal sense of direction. For an amount of times too embarrassing to count, Andross gets lost in downtown China yet again.

"My friend Chuck made me draw Wolverine, so I did it and made him a mountain and an animal rights activist. One claw at the ready to slay those who would trespass upon his mammalian brotherhood. I guess it fixed or broke something in me cause now I can't stop drawing Wolverine."

2. Hong Kong Blondes - Frisbee
3. Kap10Kurt - Dangerseekers (Original X10ded Mix)
4. Surkin - Radio Fireworks
5. Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me (GRUM Remix)

The entire CD was my first attempt at a pre-arranged set made entirely in Ableton Live (every other set I've ever put online were live recordings of impromptu DJing.) The entire CD is completely mixed harmonically so hopefully it'll sound that much better to your ears! I will be using this mix as my "business card" for the next few months so let's see what happens and I'd love to hear what you think about it!

Three great things in one!
1. Being drunk
2. Apple computers
3. Jeff Goldblum
(Of course he is not drunk. The creator of this video slowed it down 50% but the audio effect of Goldblum's speech is great.)
- Thanks for the tip ENZO.

Ugh. Blog down time.
So let's have blog sexy time!
Sorry for the down time. I am prepping for a big DJ set and I haven't had time to get back to blogging. To remedy this, I'll give you two great tracks that will hopefully spark some fun in those nether regions of yours!
Convinced Simian Mobile Disco knows how to work sex appeal? Thought so. Get more at their Myspace.
Simian Mobile Disco - I Believe

I'm also convinced that putting Teki Latex (Myspace) in ANYTHING will make it sexy. I know if you've never heard of him you probably do not believe me at all. But watch what happens when Teki gets on a remix of this Gonzalez (Myspace) track.
Gonzalez featuring Teki Latex - Slow Down (remix)
Oh, need more proof Teki has the touch?

LADIES AND GENTS: The Vodkadets!
So I started a new band with my friend Victoria. Our philosophy is very simple:
- Write songs about getting drunk and getting laid
- Be so hot that people will be jealous that we might be doing each other (like The White Stripes but dirtier)
Simple enough. Check it out.
